Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about starting your business in BC.
Q: How long does it take to incorporate in BC?
A: We can often have your corporation registered and get your Certificate of Incorporation within 24 to 48 hours after name approval.
Q: Do I need a lawyer to incorporate?
A: No. While lawyers can incorporate companies, we provide the same legal structure and Minute Books at a fraction of the cost, with the added benefit of tax planning setup from day one.
Q: What is a "Minute Book" and why do I need it?
A: A Minute Book is the official record of your corporation (Shareholders, Directors, Bylaws). It is mandatory by law. Banks require it to open a business account, and the CRA asks for it during an audit. Our “Complete Corp” package includes a digital one.
Q: Can I change from Sole Proprietorship to a Corporation later?
A: Yes, but it involves a “Section 85 Rollover” which is complex and costly. It is often cheaper and cleaner to start as a Corporation if you expect your income to grow quickly.
